1. Can I use the new LiFe battery in an AcuteB 600 generator?
- Yes, this will reduce the weight and increase the capacity. But the
recycling times are almost the same like with the Pb (lead acid)
battery.
2. Do I need a special charger for the new LiFe battery?
- No, this is one of the advantages of LiFe (LiFePO4) batteries
compared to standard Li batteries, they work with the same chargers we
offer for Pb batteries.
3. Is it allowed to transport the AcuteB2 and LiFe batteries by air?
- Yes, the LiFe battery we use is tested and certified according to UN
manual of Test&Criteria, Part III, Sub-section 38,3. Please
contact the airline prior the flight for more information´s.
4. Can I use the Pb (lead acid) battery in the AcuteB2 and is this battery still available?
- Yes, the Pb battery can be used in the AcuteB2 and is still available
as cheaper alternative. But with this battery the recycling times of
the AcuteB2 get almost as long as with the AcuteB (up to 2,5s) and the
total weight goes up to 4,8kg.
5. Do you offer the AcuteB2 600 with PocketWizard?
- Yes, the new AcuteB2 is available with an additional PocketWizard
module (US/344MHz or CE/433MHz). The Profoto AirS is always (!)
integrated and can be deactivated if not in use.
6. Is it possible to charge the LiFe battery while using the generator?
- Yes, absolutely. We recommend the 2A charger to increase the capacity considerably.
7. Is a car charger available for the AcuteB2?
- It is possible to use standard, small car inverters with min. 75W
capacity in combination with the AcuteB2 standard charger (1A). These
inverters are available at most electronic stores
8. How do LiFe batteries react on low or high temperatures?
- LiFe loose less capacity when used at low or high temperatures than
Pb batteries. They can be charged at and discharged (used) at
temperatures from -20°+45°C.
9. Does the new LiFe battery extend the operating time of the model lamp?
- No, because of its different energy consumption the operating time of
the AcuteB2 model lamp (65W Halostar) is still max. 45min., even with
the new battery. Use the optional mains adapter for continuous model
light.
10. How environmental friendly are LiFe batteries?
- The chemicals and components used in a LiFe battery are less harmful
than the ones in a Pb battery (lead and acid!). And the longer
life-time of LiFe cells does also protect the environment. But all
defective/old batteries should be returned to the manufacturer for
professional recycling anyhow.

11. There are many rumors about exploding and burning Li batteries. How safe is the LiFe technology?
- LiFe batteries are one of the safest rechargeable batteries
available. Standard Li batteries can suffer from "Thermal Runaway", a
technical phenomenon that sometimes creates explosions or spontaneous
combustions. This is virtually impossible with LiFe cells like the ones
used by Profoto. .
12. What is the best way to retain LiFe batteries?
- Charged. All types of batteries loose capacity if they are stored
uncharged. But we don´t recommend to charge the LiFe batteries
permanently..
14. Can I use third party Lithum batteries?
- No. The batteries used by Profoto are selected versions and include
special, dedicated electronics to guarantee an optimal performance.
